IRRI conducts Retirement Livelihood Programs



IRRI conducted information sessions and site visits as part of the Retirement Livelihood Programs on 14-15 August 2013.  The program entitled “Enrichment Opportunities: There is More After Retirement” aims to help headquarters-based participants prepare for their retirement.

The program was conducted in partnership with the Philippines Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region IV-A, and was organized by Human Resource Services.

The seminar, which was attended by nearly 50 participants from different organizational units, kicked off with an overview of DOST Programs which was presented by DOST Region IV-A’s Regional Director, Dr. Alexander Madrigal. It was closely followed by the sharing of success stories of selected Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). These stories included “Hitting it Big with Kukutin” which was presented by Dr. Norma Cordoves of Golden Arrow Food Enterprises; “Kakanin Lovin” which was discussed by Mr. Nicanor Dimayuga of D’ Lover’s Line Bibingka; “Aiming Health and Wealth in Organic Farming” which was explained by Dr. Sammy Crucido of Corleon Farm; and, “Negosyong Pampaganda, Patok sa Masa” which was presented by Ms. Sherill Quintana of ORYSPA Spa Solutions. The event concluded with “Financial Wealth Management & Investment Opportunities” which was discussed by Mr. Arnel Magpily of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) - Laguna.

A number of site visits followed on 15 August 2013, when the business sites of the following successful  MSMEs were visited: D’ Lover’s Line Bibingka and Tanauan Packaging and Service Center in Batangas, Amira’s Buco Tart Haus, Faner’s Flower and Vegetable Farm/Hydrophonics Farming and Delfa’s Food Products in Cavite, and ORYSPA Spa Solutions in Laguna.

The site visits provided further information on retirement livelihood programs, allowing participants to meet the MSMEs proprietors, view production sites, and learn practical business tips.
