IRRI’s Salinity Tolerance Breeding wins the 2013 mid-year SATA



The Salinity Tolerance Breeding Team in Plant Breeding, Genetics, and Biotechnology (PBGB) has won the 2013 mid-year Semi-Annual Team Award (SATA).

Lead by Dr. Glenn Gregorio, Senior Scientist I, the members of the team have received the SATA in recognition of their work in releasing and delivering six varieties in a short period of time, improving screening methods, combining tolerance for multiple stresses, training many students, and producing documentation that demonstrates the positive impact of their work to farmers. The team is composed of Junrey Amas, Research Assistant; Marydee Arceta, Researcher; Aniceta Barretto, Researcher; Rollin Deocampo, Research Technician III; Angelito Francisco, Research Technician III; Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, Postdoctoral Fellow; Michelle Racelis, Secretary III; Andres Godwin Sajise, Associate Scientist; Rakesh Kumar Singh, Senior Scientist II; and Naireen Aiza Vispo, Researcher.

The team was chosen after a nomination process which began at Organizational Unit (OU) level and which has included a detailed review and assessment by the SATA Selection Committee, and finally, the Director General.

The IRRI Semi-Annual Team Awards (SATA) Program was created to recognize team achievements, and to support existing programs through which outstanding contributions and performance are recognized.
