IRRI held its second Health & Wellness Fair in celebration of Nutrition Month


As part of the Nutrition Month celebrations, IRRI held a second Health and Wellness Fair on July 25 and 26 at the Khush Hall.

Organized by the Human Resource Services, the fair was attended by nearly 400 staff and their dependents. The event themed as “Nutri-Up: Healthy Options and Choices” was filled with activities including Nutrition Counseling, Fasting Blood Sugar Test, Blood Pressure Check, Body Mass Index Test, Body Age Test, and Product Sampling. There was also a lecture series on such topics as "Cardiovascular Continuum,” and “Fight on the Job Weight Gain.” The event concluded with employees joining in the “5-minute Exercise at Work.” IRRI's employee wellness program also delivers year-round health-oriented workshops and seminars and provides access to confidential counseling services.

Intellicare holds ID picture taking for local staff and dependents

Human Resource Services (HRS), in partnership with Intellicare, holds ID picture taking for HQ-based Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) on 20 July 2013.

The activity was conducted in line with Intellicare’s launching of their new logo in addition to updating the old ID photos of staff and dependents.

More than 1000 participants have joined in the activity.

HRS holds information session on Intellicare, PhilHealth, SSS, and Pag-Ibig (HDMF) benefits to local staff

Human Resource Services (HRS) holds information sessions on Intellicare, Social Security System (SSS), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth), and Home Development Mutual Fund (HDMF or Pag-Ibig) benefits on 16 July 2013 at headquarters. The guest resource speakers were Ryan Peduca from Intellicare; Ghia Las of SSS; Racquel Tiongco and Irene Mojado of PhilHealth; and Donald Alilio and Veron Saylon of HDMF office.

The seminar was aimed at orienting the staff on the services and programs of the mentioned external partners in addition to providing an avenue for questions and feedback of all HQ-based Nationally Recruited Staff including those who have availed of the 2012 Early Retirement Program.

More than 100 participants from different organizational units attended the session.

HRS holds survey on retirement assistance program to ERP recipients

Human Resource Services (HRS) conducted face-to-face interviews with the 2012 Early Retirement Program recipients and would-be retirees about the retirement assistance program last 16 July 2013. A survey questionnaire  was also developed and used as a tool to establish a solid base of information wherein specific livelihood programs and support learning forum can be identified.

In attendance were Reynaldo Garcia, Gaudencio Sulit, Amador de Jesus, Max Banasihan, Nicanor Turingan, Virgilio Magat, Virgilio Ancheta Jr., Perlita Malabayabas, and Emilio Gonzalez Jr..

HRS holds Essential First Aid Training

Human Resource Services (HRS), in partnership with Pilipinas 911 Inc., provider of the Citywatch brand of emergency assistance services, holds Essential First Aid Training on 16 July 2013.

The training focused on responding to cardiac and breathing emergencies, including the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED); responding to common first aid emergencies, including burns, cuts, head, neck and back injuries; and recognizing and preventing cardiac arrest.

The seminar was attended by HQ-based Nationally Recruited Staff from levels 1-3.

HRS holds training on presentation skills for local staff

Human Resource Services (HRS), in partnership with Guthrie-Jensen Philippines, held the Effective Presentation Skills (EPS) training on 9-11 July 2013 at IRRI headquarters.

15 HQ-based Nationally Recruited Staff attended the 3-day workshop facilitated by Ralph Guzman, managing consultant at Guthrie-Jensen.

Participants includes Lily Go-Aquino (Finance),  Fortunato Gringo II Braza (SSS), Joanna Cabutaje (Finance), Rosalinda Del Rosario (DGO), Emma Fabian (CESD), Roven Rommel Fuentes (GRC), Ritchel Gannaban (PBGB), Lourdes Herrero (CESD), Brian Carlo Hipolito (HRS), Maureen Bonna Ines (CESD), Venice Margarette Juanillas (GRC), Virginia Laluz (PBGB), Manuel Marcaida III (CESD), Florencia Montecillo (C4C),  and Rolando Santos Jr. (GRC).

EPS is an 11-module program that aims to develop and hone the presentation skills of participants. This interactive training continues to receive positive participant feedback since it was held for the first time in 2011.

60 staff joined Covey's 7 Habits Development Programs

HRS in partnership with the Center for Leadership and Change, Inc. (CLCI), the international partner of Franklin Covey in the Philippines, successfully delivered three of its most in-demand development programs, the 7 Habits Signature Program (June 25-27, 2013); 7 Habits for Associates (July 2-3, 2013), and 7 Habits for Managers (July 4-5, 2013).

The workshop is based on Stephen R. Covey's best-selling book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. The program provided a sequential framework for understanding personal and professional development. It also enabled participants to better apply timeless principles that yield greater productivity, improved communication, strengthened relationships, increased influence, and focus on critical priorities. Facilitated by Ms. Tessa Balili-Mendoza and Ms. Elaine Bernardo-Rodriguez of CLCI, staff from various background attend these programs.
